ATP Testing: The Importance of Surface Sampling & Testing

An ATP test is a fast way to measure the growth of active viruses, pathogens, bacteria, and microorganisms. The measurements are detected through adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is a molecule that is located around and in cells that are living. This is a vital step used to indicate if there are any bacteria or viruses on a surface. It is used to measure the effectiveness of disinfection efforts as well. Also, ATP testing is used to see if a surface can support viruses and bacteria’s harmful growth. This is an important test because it ensures everyone’s safety and pets in the disinfected space.

    Safe Spray’s Process

Safe Spray professionals will take several steps before, during, and after treating your home. Also, we will ensure that every step is done correctly from start to finish.

First, the assessment process includes an initial assessment of the areas that will be treated. We will take into consideration any of any electronics, computers, and surface types at your location. The initial assessment will help us select the service types or package you may need to ensure your home is protected.

Second, after the initial assessment is finished, we will move on to the next step. The second step includes pre-testing. This step consists of an advanced system of residual tests. Our testing indicates levels of residues that are far lower than other disinfection cleaning companies’ kits.

Surface testing is commonly used to indicate a single organic material type (ATP) adenosine triphosphate. This type of testing is not as effective as our testing system. Our testing system will detect decomposed ATP molecules and living ATP. After the tests are completed, all the results are saved.

Third, after pre-testing, we will start treatment based on the saved results. We have a range of machines and tools to help achieve exceptional results. In three steps, we will disinfect and clean any surfaces. Next, we will disinfect the prepped areas to eliminate 99.99% of germs, viruses, and bacteria. Lastly, during the treatment stage, we will create a micro-shield to seal the disinfected areas. This step will help extend protection and the results. Our professionals will clean and remove any trash produced by the electrostatic disinfection process.

Fourth, After the areas have been treated, we will conduct a post-test to ensure that all areas have been effectively treated.

Fifth, the last step includes a Safe Spray certification. We will present you with a certificate of completion after we finish. This consists of a sticker decal for the window to show that your location is safeguarded for health.

The lifespan of Bacteria & Viruses on Surfaces

The lifespan of bacteria and viruses on surfaces has a wide range. Numerous studies suggest that the pathogen type is a strong influencer on surface lifespan.

Average Lifespan of Different Viruses and Bacteria
Rhinovirus: This set virus causes the common cold. It will survive for less than 60 minutes on different surfaces on average.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) – The novel coronavirus COVID-19 can exist on surfaces. However, the time it lives on surfaces is still being studied. COVID-19 can survive on plastic and steel surfaces for up to three days. The lifespan of this virus is an average of 24 hours on cardboard.

Norovirus: This is a virus that can cause a wide range of symptoms and survive for weeks on surfaces without a host.

Several environmental factors affect the survival rate of viruses and bacteria on surfaces. This includes environmental temperature, humidity levels, and surface type.
